The 2026 series everyone talked about

Final seasons, long-awaited returns and event series: a look at the series that defined 2026, and the ones still to come before the end of the year.

2026 was a year of big appointments for series, with farewells to cult sagas and highly anticipated returns. Here are the ones that got people talking, and the ones still on the way.

The year of farewells

  • Stranger Things: Netflix's phenomenon wrapped up right at the start of the year, after nearly ten years of adventures in Hawkins. The kind of finale you watch with family or friends.
  • The Boys: TV's most ferocious superhero satire began its final season on Prime Video.

The long-awaited returns

  • Euphoria, season 3: after a long wait, the HBO series returned, with characters who have grown up.
  • House of the Dragon, season 3: the Targaryen war resumed, at the heart of the conflict between Rhaenyra and Aegon.

Still to come this year

The coming weeks are busy, especially on Netflix:

  • Black Doves, season 2 (November 5)
  • The Altruists (November 19), the limited series about the fall of FTX
  • The Hunting Wives, season 2 (November 26)

How to keep up without burning out

The trap with series is starting everything and finishing nothing. Our advice: one "long" series and one miniseries at the same time, never more. And to know which ones truly deserve your time, that's the job of Ta Dose's weekly selection.
