Spider-Man: Brand New Day on streaming: when and where to watch it?
The year's biggest box-office hit, Spider-Man Brand New Day, will soon leave theaters. Here's how release windows work in France for watching it at home.
With more than $2.5 billion in worldwide grosses according to figures compiled in mid-October, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the biggest box-office hit of 2026. Many viewers are asking the same question: when can I watch it at home?
The rule in France: release windows
In France, a movie released in theaters can't arrive on streaming whenever it likes. The "chronologie des médias" sets the delays:
- Digital rental and purchase (VOD): usually 4 months after the theatrical release.
- Paid subscriptions (Canal+, then platforms like Netflix, Disney+ or Prime Video): later, depending on each broadcaster's agreements. The wait can range from several months to more than a year.
- Free TV: later still.
These delays don't exist everywhere: in the United States, a movie can arrive on VOD just a few weeks after release. So don't rely on US dates if you're in France.
In practice, for Spider-Man
Since the movie came out in summer 2026, digital purchase or rental should arrive before the other options. For subscription services, it will depend on the studio's deals in each country. The simplest approach is to follow the official announcement rather than rumors.
In the meantime
If you want to stay in that universe, rewatch Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) and the animated Spider-Verse movies, two of the best recent superhero films.
