The Mosquito Bowl: Everything about Peter Berg's upcoming epic war movie on Netflix
Inspired by a true story during WWII, Peter Berg's The Mosquito Bowl is heading to Netflix in November.
Filmmaker Peter Berg is back on Netflix with a major new project titled The Mosquito Bowl. After captivating audiences with his western miniseries, the director is now tackling a dramatic and lesser-known chapter of World War II in the Pacific.
A powerful true story at the heart of the Battle of Okinawa
Based on gripping real-life events, the film follows young American soldiers from the same college football team thrust into the brutal chaos of the Battle of Okinawa. Amidst the bloodshed, a football game is organized to lift the troops' morale and offer a brief respite from the horrors of war.
A stellar cast and an Oscar run
To bring this historical epic to life, Peter Berg assembled an impressive young cast featuring Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Galitzine, and Ray Nicholson. Behind the scenes, the director reunites with screenwriter Mark L. Smith, with whom he previously collaborated.
The film is set for a limited theatrical release in select territories to position itself for the upcoming awards season, while streaming audiences will be able to discover it on November 25 exclusively on Netflix.
