The Night Agent: Netflix's Action Thriller to End After Season 4
A major Netflix hit reminiscent of Reacher, The Night Agent will officially conclude after its fourth season due to declining viewership.
Launched in March 2023 on Netflix, the series The Night Agent quickly established itself as one of the platform's must-watch action and espionage hits. Adapted from Matthew Quirk's novel, the production starring Gabriel Basso as FBI agent Peter Sutherland won over fans of high-stakes thrillers.
Global success followed by a decline
Upon its release, the first season dominated the global English-language top 10 for seventeen consecutive weeks. Building on this massive momentum, the show was renewed for multiple seasons. However, viewership figures gradually dipped across subsequent runs, dropping from 20.6 million views in the opening week of season 1 to 13.9 million for season 2, and 8.4 million for season 3.
A promised memorable conclusion
Facing this viewership drop, the decision was made: the fourth season currently filming in Los Angeles will be the last. Creator Shawn Ryan reassured the fan community by promising a fitting and memorable conclusion for Peter Sutherland and cybersecurity expert Rose Larkin, played by Luciane Buchanan.
Rated 4 out of 5 by viewers on AlloCiné, the series is preparing to bow out but will remain available for streaming on the platform for anyone wanting to experience its gripping twists.
