Between Christmas and New Year's: one movie a night, our plan

Seven evenings, seven movies: our movie plan for the week between Christmas and New Year's Day, built around each night's mood and energy.

The week between Christmas and New Year's has something magical about it: you're not quite sure what day it is, it's cold outside, and there's still chocolate left. It's the perfect week for movies. Here's our plan, one evening after another.

The plan

December 25: the comfort movie

After Christmas lunch, you need comfort. Paddington 2 (1h43): funny, tender, and loved by every age.

December 26: the big spectacle

It's the right time to see Dune: Part Three or Avengers: Doomsday in theaters, released on December 18.

December 27: the French comedy

Santa Claus Is a Stinker (Le Père Noël est une ordure, 1h28), or The Intouchables (1h52) if you want more emotion.

December 28: the classic to catch up on

Use the free time for a long movie you've been putting off for years: The Godfather (2h55) or Lawrence of Arabia, if you're very motivated.

December 29: the thriller night

A thriller for a change of mood: Prisoners (2h33) or, shorter, The Guilty (1h25).

December 30: the miniseries

Start a miniseries to finish the next morning: Chernobyl (5 episodes) or The Queen's Gambit (7 episodes).

December 31: the movie before midnight

A movie that ends on a high before the countdown: When Harry Met Sally (1h36), whose final scene takes place on New Year's Eve.

Happy holidays

The key is not spending these evenings searching for what to watch. Plan ahead, and enjoy.
