Legendary Hollywood offspring: Indio Downey lands his first major movie role in Love In Vein
Indio Downey, son of Robert Downey Jr., is set to take on his first major movie lead in the independent film Love In Vein.
The cinematic landscape is constantly welcoming the fresh faces of Hollywood's next generation. This time, another familiar name is stepping into the spotlight to carve out his own path away from his family's colossal shadow.
A major step for a rising talent
Following in the footsteps of various industry offspring making waves, Indio Downey is ready to make a significant impact. At thirty-three years old, the artist—who has primarily focused on a career in music until now—has officially landed his first major lead role in an upcoming independent feature film titled Love In Vein.
The project marks the feature directorial debut of Will De Los Santos, who also wrote the screenplay. The film is an adaptation of Ryan Leone's 2014 semi-autobiographical novel Wasting Talent, which explores the gritty and intense themes of addiction.
Diving into the Los Angeles underground
In the film, Downey will portray Damien, a young man navigating a precarious balance between drugs, personal relationships, music, and raw survival in the gritty underground scene of Los Angeles. As he tries to stay afloat, those around him grapple with their own versions of desire, dependency, and escape.
To ensure a strong cinematic backing, the production boasts producer Chris Hanley, known for his work on iconic indie and cult classics like American Psycho, Spring Breakers, and Virgin Suicides. Filming is slated to take place in Los Angeles between March and April 2027.
While Downey previously appeared as a younger version of his father in the 2005 cult favorite Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Love In Vein stands as his first true defining moment as a leading man on the silver screen.
