Nocturne on Apple TV: The Thriller Series Starring Liev Schreiber and Stephen Graham
Discover Nocturne, the dark and gripping new crime series available on Apple TV, adapted from Lars Kepler's best-sellers.
Fans of psychological thrillers and dark crime investigations have a new obsession: Nocturne has officially arrived on Apple TV. Described as a gripping dive into the twisted mind of a dangerous serial killer, this new series follows in the footsteps of critically acclaimed shows like Mindhunter and Dexter, promising meticulous character studies and relentless suspense.
A Heavyweight Star-Studded Cast
The series boasts an impressive ensemble cast. Liev Schreiber, best known for his iconic role in Ray Donovan, leads the investigation. Interestingly, the American actor was not the initial choice for the part; production originally favored Tom Hardy, who opted to star in MobLand instead.
Opposite Schreiber stands the formidable Stephen Graham, celebrated for his work in Peaky Blinders and as the co-creator of Adolescence. His intense physical presence brings a terrifying realism to the role of the serial killer. Meanwhile, Zazie Beetz (from Atlanta and Joker) rounds out the main cast as an intuitive detective, adding a raw, emotional layer to the tense narrative.
Adapted from Bestselling Swedish Crime Novels
The brilliance of the show's foundation comes from the literary world. Nocturne is an adaptation of the acclaimed Swedish crime book series written by Lars Kepler (the pen name for the husband-and-wife duo Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril). This first season specifically adapts two gripping novels from the saga: The Sandman and Lazarus.
Behind the camera, the production enlisted showrunner Rowan Joffé and veteran director Tim Van Patten, who helmed the first two episodes. With such prestigious talent involved both on screen and behind the scenes, this thriller stands out as a major television event.
How to Watch It Now
Nocturne is available to stream immediately on Apple TV, starting with a two-episode premiere followed by weekly releases. It is the ultimate weekend watch for anyone looking for premium, chilling television.
